Comfortable air-conditioned cabin finished in noble woodwork, with en-suite bathroom, hot shower, and panoramic picture windows.

This three-day private cruise aboard a chartered traditional wooden junk grants you the privilege of spending two magical nights at anchor amid the fairytale seascapes of Lan Ha Bay.
Combining peaceful navigation between thousands of limestone karsts, a bucolic bicycle ride to the secluded jungle village of Viet Hai on Cat Ba Island, sea kayaking in the pristine turquoise lagoons of Van Boi, and a historic visit to Quan Y cave, this tailor-made journey embodies maritime serenity at its finest.
Morning departure around 9:00 AM from your hotel in Hanoi in a private vehicle with your French-speaking guide toward Hai Phong. Step aboard your chartered traditional wooden junk, where the captain and crew welcome you with a refreshing drink.
Weigh anchor and cruise into the emerald waters of Lan Ha Bay, the serene and pristine southern sector of the Gulf of Tonkin. Sail through a breathtaking labyrinth of limestone karsts and islets sculpted over millions of years.
Pause for a sea kayaking or swimming session in the calm waters near Dark and Bright Cave. Back on board, unwind on the upper sun deck followed by a convivial cooking demonstration to learn the art of rolling traditional crispy spring rolls.
Savor a gourmet seafood lunch and dinner served on deck as the sun dips below the karst horizon. Spend a peaceful evening at anchor in a sheltered cove with optional night squid fishing. Overnight on board in a private air-conditioned cabin.
Driving: 120 km (2 hours). Seafood lunch and dinner on board. First night aboard your private junk.
Gentle morning wake-up in the heart of the bay. Enjoy breakfast on the upper deck admiring mist-shrouded limestone cliffs. Board a tender to land on a quiet shore of Cat Ba Island.
Hop on bicycles for an exotic 5-kilometer ride through a scenic limestone canyon and lush rainforest to reach the secluded valley village of Viet Hai. Discover traditional thatched-roof and earthen dwellings, meeting villagers who live from farming and mountain beekeeping.
Return to the junk for lunch. In the afternoon, cruise toward the wild, tranquil waters of Van Boi or Ba Ham Lake. Enjoy time to paddle kayaks through turquoise lagoons and swim directly from the boat's swimming platform.
In the evening, anchor in another quiet, sheltered cove for a gourmet seafood dinner and a second night rocked by gentle waves.
Lunch and dinner on board. Second night aboard your private junk.
Wake at daybreak to witness dawn light spreading across thousands of limestone islands. After breakfast on deck, the junk moors on Cat Ba Island for a visit to the remarkable Quan Y Cave.
This expansive natural cavern housed a complete underground military field hospital during the war, featuring 17 rooms across three distinct levels carved directly into the limestone rock.
Return on board to enjoy an early farewell lunch as the junk glides gently back to the pier around midday. Disembark and meet your private vehicle for the comfortable highway transfer back to Hanoi.
Arrive in the capital by late afternoon with drop-off at your hotel in the ancient quarter.
Lunch on board included. Return drive: approx. 120 km (2 hours).
Travel Log
Selected moments to experience the landscapes, encounters, and rhythm of this itinerary.
